Ever hear that saying “you get what you pay for”? Well, in my experience, it’s generally true, and definitely true when it comes to qaulity cutting boards. The expensive cutting boards are end-grain for a reason: because they’re easier on your knives. You cut in between the fibers.
Bamboo cutting boards are laid perpendicular to the grain and it so it’s very hard and durable. If it’s really beautiful, you can always use it for serving cheese or snacks.
This dish is a whole meal with the addition of a salad. Everyone loves tender filet mignon, the sauce and tortellini come together to make this a great dinner.
Grape Divine Filet Mignon Tortellini(Directions): Pull out something to cut on; I prefer a bamboo cutting board. Boil the tortellini in hot water until you can feel the softness of the pasta, and then leave it aside. Dice the onion into small pieces, wash the basil and take only the leaves out of the stems. Wash 5-8 sweet red grapes and take out the seeds, cut them in half. Clean the filet mignon and cut it up into 1/2 inch cubes, keep it cold in the refrigerator. Put 1 tablespoon of canola oil in a sauce pan, add the diced onion to the oil and saute it for a minute. Add the chicken broth, the sliced red grapes, sangria, salt, sugar and pepper. Mix well until the sauce feels a little thicker, then add the cold milk. Add the filet mignon and saute it until it’s cooked the way you want it. Add the boiled tortellini to the same sauce pan and mix well. Use a different small sauce pan and roast the raw sunflower seeds until they are a little golden or brownish color. Clean the tomatoes and dice them into small cubes. Use the tomatoes and the roasted sunflower seeds as a garnish.

Uh oh, it’s that time of year again. Listen, I love Christmas as much as the next guy - the lights, the color, the celebration, the sharing, and especially the eating and drinking. Alas, it seems somewhere along the way, we’ve lost sight of the “spirit” of Christmas and replaced it with the “spirit” of commercialism. In keeping with the true meaning of Christmas, I’ve searched for meaningful (i.e. practical) gifts that don’t “break the bank”. After a little inquiry, I believe I’ve found the perfect gift; a bamboo cutting board!
Why bamboo? Basically because it’s durable and looks great in the kitchen - a winning combo that will make any cook happy! It is also a renewable resource, making it a great choice for the environmentally conscious. Bamboo cutting boards are also resistant to moisture damage. With a little maintenance and cleaning, this board will look fantastic for years.
My family is always looking for ways to save money. One of the best discoveries we’ve made is the benefits of making baby food at home verses buying it from a store. My wife loves the fact she knows exactly what’s in our baby’s food, with no hidden preservatives and chemicals. Homemade baby food is also economical. An entire can of vegetables, which can be used to make several baby food servings, can cost the same amount as a small, store bought baby food jar.
The items needed for homemade baby food are common ones you may already have: knife, peeler, blender, and ice cube trays. My wife prefers stylish bamboo cutting boards to chop the baby food ingredients. In addition to looks, bamboo is extremely durable; it is harder that most woods, making it a superior material for use in cutting boards. Additionally, bamboo cutting boards absorb very little moisture, so not only can it be more sanitary, it’s not going to grow or shrink on you over time.
